Bathrooms are one of the most appealing rooms to prospective buyers, with some real estate agents estimating that an investment in renovating your bathroom could return as much as $4 for every $1 spent. Whether you're looking for a simple renovation on a house you're flipping or renting, right through to your dream bathroom in your own home the team at CBR can bring your ideas to life.
The answer to this question depends on what you're looking to do. The Building Act 2004 states that consent is not required for alterations to existing sanitary plumbing in a building, provided that:
(a). the total number of sanitary fixtures in the building is not increased by the alteration; and
(b). the alteration does not modify or affect any specified system.
If you're replacing or relocating existing bathroom fixtures then this doesn't require a consent, but if you're adding to the total number of fixtures (such as adding an ensuite), or installing a tiled wet area shower then you will need consent. While consent isn't a barrier to making these changes, it does add to the cost and needs to be factored in. Some cowboy companies will skip this step to save money, but it can come back to bite you later so we take pride in doing our work right the first time.
